Edit a menu category in the Nomni Ordering console

Change a category’s name, type, availability, sizes, toppings, printer and reporting category

Quick answer: In the Nomni Ordering console, go to Menu > Categories and open the category. Use the tabs Category, Other Attributes, Sub Categories, Images, View Products and Availability to make your changes, then click Save & Exit.

These steps are for Nomni Ordering console admins. Some screens still show the old name "OrderUp" (Nomni Ordering).

Open the category

  1. Sign in to the Nomni Ordering console.

  2. Go to Menu > Categories.

  3. Click the category you want to change.

What you should see: The category page with tabs across the top.

Category tab

  1. Change the Category Name, Sub Title or Description.

  2. Choose a Category Type: Standard, Featured or Specials Category. This changes the layout style of the category on your ordering site.

  3. Switch Active, For Sale, Available as Sub Category and Allow Instruction on or off.

  4. Choose where it shows: Available for Pickup, Available for Delivery, Available for Dine In and Available for Room Service.

  5. Click Save & Continue.

What you should see: A saved message, and the category updates on your ordering site.

Other Attributes tab

  • Size Category and Topping Category: the size and topping groups for products in this category.

  • Printer: which printer the category prints to.

  • Reporting Category: groups sales in your reports.

  • Preptime Category: links the category to a prep time category, if you use them. You set those under Menu > Category Prep Times.

  • Lead Time: how far ahead the category must be ordered.

Availability tab

  1. Under When will this category be available?, choose Available All Time or set the days and times.

  2. Click Save & Exit.

What you should see: The category only shows on your ordering site at the times you set.

Images tab

  1. Click Upload Image or Link Image.

  2. Use a JPG image at least 1200 x 300 pixels.

  3. Click Save & Exit.

Category images don’t show for a sub category.

If your menu comes from your POS

If a POS integration is on, the page says "As you are integrated, your menu will come from the POS." You can still create top-level categories to hold your POS categories, but you can’t change the attribute options. Change those in your POS.
