This article explains what NFC technology is and how to use from a customer perspective.

Near Field Communication (NFC) technology allows customers to make secure transactions and connect electronic devices with a TAP. NFC transmissions are short range (from a touch to a few centimeters) and require the devices to be in close proximity.

How do I use NFC on my Android?
Activating NFC

  1. On your Android device, tap on “Settings.”

  2. Select “Connected devices.”

  3. Select “Connection preferences.”

  4. You should see “NFC” and “Android Beam” options.

  5. Turn both of them on.

How do I use NFC on my iPhone?

Activating NFC

  1. Go to Settings > More.

  2. Tap on the NFC switch to activate it

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have NFC, but only for payments. The iPhones 7, 8 and X also have NFC for payments but additionally, with iOS 11 and an NFC App, they can read NFC tags. The latest iPhone XS, XS Max and XR have NFC for payments and can read NFC tags with or without an additional App.
