Start, join and close a tab when ordering at a venue

For customers: start a group tab, invite friends, order on the tab and close it in Nomni Ordering.

A tab lets your group order on one bill. One person starts the tab with their card, and others join and order on it.

Before you start

  • Who: Customers at a venue using Nomni Ordering.

  • Device: A phone with a web browser.

  • Permissions and settings: The person starting the tab needs a payment card and phone number. The venue must offer tabs.

Start a tab

  1. Scan the venue's QR code to open the menu.

  2. Tap Start a Tab.

  3. Name your tab and set a Tab Budget if you want a limit.

  4. Add your card and tap Start Tab.

You should see a success message and get a text with the tab link. A pre-authorisation is placed on your card. It is released 3 to 5 business days after the tab closes.

Invite friends

  1. Tap Invite to tab.

  2. Let friends scan the QR code shown, or share the link.

Join a tab

  1. Open the link or scan the QR code, then tap Join a Tab > Join the Tab.

  2. Order as normal and choose Use your tab to pay.

Check and close the tab

  1. The person who started it can open Tab activity to see every order.

  2. Tap Close your tab and confirm Are you sure you want to close your tab.

You should see Tab closed. An email report of all transactions is sent to you.

If something goes wrong

  • This tab has been closed: ask the person who started it to open a new one.

  • Tab name is required: enter a name.

  • You left by mistake: tap the link in the text again to rejoin. Leave the tab doesn't delete your orders.

  • A charge on your card: the pre-authorisation drops off 3 to 5 business days after closing. For anything else, ask the venue.
